June 18th – July 30th, 2011
Reception: June 18, 2011 5-8pm
The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to present Earth-Like Planet. This exhibition, curated by Matt May, explores the dominion where art and science intersect. In this territory, somewhere between real and imaginary, artists take on the role of forecasting a future of what may be and what is yet to come.
The term “earth-like planet” references the rapid advancement of science and technology, and in particular, that of deep space exploration. Inspired by such possibilities, this mixed media exhibition examines varying themes of wonderment, exploration, conservation and a resulting dose of sci-fi.
